Hey, I’m Alex
I’m an audio engineer in Washington, DC with a passion for story telling.
Music
When I say I’m down for any genre, I mean it. I have a soft spot for folk, an appreciation for rock, and a love for Indie. Phoebe Bridgers has been my most listened to artist for 3 years. But I was raised listening to Bjork, Nine Inch Nails, Tori Amos, and Tom Waits. I would love to learn Bluegrass on violin, but for now, I would be pleased to record and mix it for you.
What I Do
Podcasts
I first discovered a love for podcasting while researching women’s representation in the Producer of the Year award at the Grammys. I loved the investigative style. After all the research, recording, and editing, I was proud of the final product. In recent years I’ve enjoyed working on light hearted interviews, in-depth discussions about developments in medicine, compelling stories about overcoming hardship, etc. Each project is a story that resonates with a listener. I love being apart of the process.
Post-Production
My journey in post production audio started with sound design for nature documentaries. Ioved hearing a world come to life one sound at a time. Since then, I’ve enjoyed on action packed thrillers, binge worthy reality, inspirational conservation efforts, and more. From dialogue editing, to sound design, to the final mix pass, I am excited to put those finishing touches on every project.
About Me
Then,
I started learning violin in the fourth grade. Music was always a constant in my life. It was there to comfort, to hype, to express, to inspire. Somewhere down the line I developed an interest in film scoring. I was inspired by how a good score can enhance and compliment a scene. When it was time for college, I was admitted to the Dewberry School of Music at George Mason University. There I studied electro-acoustic engineering, composed for student films, and performed with the university’s symphony orchestra. Towards the end of my studies, my love for mixing and recording was ignited during my internship at Bias Studios in Springfield, VA.
Now,
I continue to love violin, scoring for film, mixing, and recording. As an audio engineer at Henninger Media Services in Arlington, VA, my skills have broadened to the world of post production mix and sound design. These days, much of my time is spent recoding, mixing, and sound designing for podcasts and short/long form media. From two friends reviewing a movie, to an action packed get away, to the Amazon rainforests, there are stories to be told. Stories to comfort, hype, sing, feel, and inspire. I find it an honor to work with you on every one.
